Nexus mods wont let me download

I was working fine and then it just stopped downloading all together. I dont even know how I broke it. After installing one mod I went back to the nexus to get some more, and then its like it decided to clock out. Nexus Mod wont let me install mods to NMM but only to Vortex. I want to download mods only to NMM. HELP. Just came back to playing modded Skyrim after a few months without touching mods and it wants me to use Vortex. I have Vortex installed but I never really used it. I have so many mods on NMM across multiple games.
